Known issues with DisplayLink on OS X 10.9 and 10.10 (Mavericks & Yosemite):
The following issues have been found on OS X 10.9 and 10.10 and do not currently have a resolution:
- Corruption on the border of application windows.- Some applications can show corruption and/or missing contents while updating windows contents. Examples are Maps, iBooks and the Dock.
- All screens black and unusable after unplugging a DisplayLink screen. This is caused by Apple's Window server crashing. This can be recovered by replugging the DisplayLink device.
- On the Retina Macbook Pro, layout changes involving the built in graphics can log the user out. Again this is caused by Apple's Window server crashing.
- The Window Server crashes logging out the user during some full screen transitions, for example Show Desktop.
- Apple menu icon misplaced on DisplayLink screens
DisplayLink uses standard Apple interfaces to integrate into OS X to add additional USB graphics displays and obtain screen updates. Unfortunately there are still issues with these interfaces preventing us from providing a good user experience in all use cases on OS X 10.9 and later.
DisplayLink has raised these bugs to Apple and continues to look for further workarounds to improve the user experience.
